Dark Knight Deleted Scene Explores Bane’s Origin

| Category: Entertainment | No Comments

The Dark Knight Rises’ deleted scene would have enlightened viewers on Bane’s backstory.

According to the film’s costume designer Lindy Hemming, there were a lot of scenes shot by director Christopher Nolan featuring Tom Hardy’s character being critically injured as a young man which might have made audiences feel sympathy for his side.

Hemming has yet to see the movie but told GQ that Bane’s injury not only led him to wear the iconic mask but also his belt and brace.

Hemming said, "The thing that you should have seen during that sequence is [Bane] being injured in his youth. So one of the fundamental things about his costume is that he has this scar from the back injury. Even if he hasn’t got the bulletproof vest on, he still has to wear the waist belt and the braces. In that scene in the prison, where he’s learning to fight the same way Batman learned to fight, he’s wearing an early version of his waist belt. It’s showing support, but it’s not the finished one he eventually wears.

"He’s also wearing an early version of his gas mask, all glued together … If you look at the film, unless they’ve cut it—and I’m sure they haven’t—there’s a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he’s fighting and being taunted by people. He’s got chains on him, and he’s standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he’s wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask."

After learning from a reporter that what she was describing wasn’t included in the film, she continued, "Well that's an awful shame, but I suppose you have to cut things. I won't elaborate on it too much, because it isn't in the film, but there was another section that showed you why he had the mask and where it came from."

Jane Lynch Takes A Jab At Chick-Fil-A On Comedy Central’s Roast of Roseanne

| Category: Entertainment | No Comments

Comedy Central’s Roast of Roseanne has yet to even air on TV and it’s already made quite a fair share of media buzz, with all credits going to this episode’s Roast Master, Jane Lynch.  The Glee actress kicked off the occasion with a jab at America’s anti-gay chicken fast food chain, Chick-Fil-A.

It happened just prior to her introduction of the night’s roastee as she has just finished making a few quick stabs at her fellow female roasters: Carrie Fischer, Ellen Barkin, and Katey Sagal. Taking her cue from the female lineup, Lynch quipped, “This show is serving up more old spoiled hens than a Chick-Fil-A. Oh, that reminds me -- Fuck Chick-Fil-A,” to which the audience reacted with “riotous laughter and applause” according to the Huffinton Post.

Lynch was obviously responding to the overwhelming support the chicken restaurant received in its first annual Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. Lynch, who is lesbian herself, married her long time partner Dr. Laura Embry in 2010.

Check out this clip that features Lynch in the August 12 airing of the show:

Rashida Jones Calls Out To John Travolta To Out Himself

| Category: Entertainment | 7 Comments

The Office star Rashida Jones wants John Travolta to come out of the closet as an example to others. She expressed support for singer Frank Ocean who bravely came out last month while she was publicizing her movie Celeste and Jesse Forever.

Travolta's personal and sexual life have put him through the wringer in recent months. The Saturday Night Fever star, who has long been dogged by rumors about his sexuality, is facing numerous lawsuits from men, many of them masseurs, who claim he made inappropriate passes, financial offers and other attempts to secure sexual contact with them. He remained silent on the charges but several weeks ago, he denied one of the claims. Other Hollywood personalities like  Joan Rivers and Carrie Fisher, have been more than happy to sound off on the possibility that actor is gay.

Jones discusses the need for more openly gay actors with friend and Celeste And Jesse Forever co-writer Will McCormack:

McCormack: There needs to be, like, a professional athlete that comes out.
Jones: And a movie star! It’s time.
McCormack: Yeah, like a big one.
Jones: A movie star?...Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let's do this. Big stars need to come out. Ricky Martin was huge. That was big. I was really happy about that... People are so precious about their careers."

Later she issued a public apology for sticking her nose in other people's personal lives.

Coming out has been a hot topic lately with Anderson Cooper, Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and R&B singer Frank Ocean, and is paving the way for better support of the LGBT community.

One thing though -- do you think Rashida was right to out John Travolta, or was she out of bounds?

Thanks to a very huge following of young fans, Jennifer Lawrence will be seeing a few more zeroes on her paycheck as she reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming movie Catching Fire, the sequel to the huge hit Hunger Games.

The 22-year-old actress, who received $500,000 on the first installment of the film, is now in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Lionsgate. If all works out well for Lawrence, she could reach a deal that will earn her of up to $10 million. The figure will already include her salary, bonuses and other factors, which could still increase if the film ever does well in the box office.

Co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth were also said to be negotiating their contracts, but there’s no doubt that they will still be receiving nothing close to that of Lawrence. Catching Fire is scheduled to start production come September and then be released by November of next year (2013).

Sony Planning On Making ALF Movie With Smurfs Producer

| Category: Entertainment | 1 Comment

Following the box-office successes of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and 21 Jump Street, Sony is planning on cashing in on another 80's TV franchise, which is ALF, a sitcom that follows the story of a furry and friendly extraterrestrial named Gordon Shumway – better known as Alien Life Form (hence A.L.F.) – who becomes part of a suburban middle-class family after crashing in their garage. The show ran in NBC from 1986 to 1990.

Jordan Kerner is said to produce the project together with the show’s creator Tom Patchett. Kerner is the same person who produced Sony Pictures Animation’s (SPA) movie adaptation of The Smurfs. Paul Fusco, the puppeteer, co-creator, and the voice behind the main character is expected to reprise his role for the movie.

Completing the team with Patchett and Fusco is Kenneth Kaufman who also holds rights to the title character.

So, either Hollywood is really running fresh out of ideas or that the 70's and 80's kids really just love their TV shows so much they’d make a movie out of them (all?). We already got the cartoons covered: G.I. Joe, Transformers, Scooby-Doo, and Smurfs. And with the sitcoms like 21 Jump Street and ALF coming in, I wonder what will be next, Perfect Strangers?

A source said that "the beauty of the weekend was that it was kept a secret, and everyone was relaxed and had a great time because of it." Guests weren’t allowed to take pictures of the event and they were transported by shuttle with very tight security.

On the night at the Academy Awards back in February, Portman and Millepied were spotted wearing bands on their ring fingers causing speculations that the two were already married, but neither commented on the rumors. Portman did credit Millepied though in her acceptance speech, giving her “the most important role of [her] life."

Now that Portman is married to a French guy, she may consider becoming a French citizen as well.

Portman said, "I now have the possibility of taking on French nationality. It would accomplish the Francophile dreams of my father and myself. I lived in Paris when I was 12 and my father gave me the name Natalie as homage to Gilbert Bécaud's song. Everything in my life has drawn me towards a French family.”

You may already be fed up with all the Kristen-Rupert-related news, but just give me this one time to share this humorous take on the whole cheating scandal. After all, with all of the bad stuff that came out of this fiasco, I think we could all use a much lighter take on the subject.

An alleged screenshot of Kristen Stewart’s Gmail Inbox has been making rounds the web lately courtesy of a poster named Ronald AngSiy from CrossLives.coms forums. Check it out:

Personally, I found it to be a hilariously clever prank, and I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did.

Peter Jackson Confirms Third Hobbit Movie

| Category: Entertainment | 1 Comment

The rumors of having a third installment for the movie The Hobbit have been confirmed.

Director Peter Jackson says that the originally planned two-part series of The Hobbit – The Hobbit: There and Back Again (December 2012) and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 2013), will now be a trilogy, with the third film due in summer of 2014 according to reports by The Associated Press. Jackson noted that much would remain untold if the movie weren’t divided into three parts.

The director said in a statement, “It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie – and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.’

"We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.

"So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of The Hobbit films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.

It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, “a tale that grew in the telling.”

The Hobbit stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Smeagol, with Elijah Wood as Frodo and Orlando Bloom as Legolas returning in smaller roles.
