Three Jeff Buckley Biopics Being Made|
It’s been 15 years since the death of singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley and it seems like everyone has gone to make a biopic about him. There’s Greetings From Tim Buckley, which will be played by Gossip Girl star Penn Badgely, a fictionalized film based on the late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley’s relationship with his father Tim Buckley, a folk music legend who died in 1975.
Then there’s A Pure Drop, directed by Brendan Fletcher and written by Train Hudson, which aims to highlight Jeff’s fun-loving aspects, a vision of Jeff’s mother who wants to put out.
And there’s still an untitled film that will be directed by Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys). Officially cast to play the role in that film is Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark star Reeve Carney. He will do all the singing. Production is set to start on November and it’s the one movie which has the exclusive rights to Jeff’s music and personal archives, thanks to the support of his mom Mary Guibert who is also the executive producer.
