WWE’s Jerry Lawler Collapses During Live Show|
Wrestling legend Jerry “The King” Lawler has been rushed to a Montreal hospital after he collapsed and stopped breathing during a live televised show of Monday Night Raw.
The 62-year-old was given CPR inside the arena.
The WWE issued a statement after Raw went off the air: “Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal. We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.”
Fellow broadcaster Michael Cole was emotional and continued to speak about the “serious” situation going on.
Lawler had earlier competed in a match between the team of Daniel Bryan and Kane vs. The Prime Time Players and seemed to be fine during an on-cam appearance before collapsing. The last update was that Lawler was breathing on his own and waiting for further tests. For updates check out WWE’s site.
This shocking incident reminds me of what happened when Owen Hart died during a match. As what Cole said during the show, “This is not part of tonight’s entertainment. This is a real-life situation.”
WWE may be a form of sports entertainment and different from MMA fights wherein full hard body contacts are given by players, but the danger is always there.
Hoping for Lawler’s full recovery.
