Jeopardy! Teen Contestant’s Memorable Win

| Category: Entertainment, iPodder, iPodder Blog | No Comments

It may not have a Slumdog Millionaire type of story attached to it, but Leonard Cooper’s win on Tuesday’s Jeopardy! Teen Tournament was definitely one of the most memorable moments in the history of the popular TV quiz show. It’ll surely find its place among other noteworthy contestants like the 1337 guy.

So what was it about Leonard’s win that made it memorable? Well, it all started earlier in the game when Cooper, 17, managed to double his money by betting all of it on the Daily Double, which gave him a huge lead from his two opponents. Long story short, just as when we all thought that that would be the most brazen thing that was ever going to happen during the show, Cooper surprised everybody with his answer on the final question.

The rest was, as the saying goes, history. I’ll leave you guys here and just let you watch it all unfold yourselves in the video below.

Will Ferrell as Security Guard Ejects Shaq at Lakers Game in Staples Center

Kobe Bryant’s unusual subpar performance at last Tuesday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns could have been the big news as he only scored 4 points and committed 8 turnovers, but it didn't really matter even if they won the game 91-85 as actor Will Ferrell was present at the Staples Center and played a role of a security guard and did his crazy antics once again.

Ferrell, who frequents the Laker games, was on his security guard persona as “Ted Vagina” and ejected Shaq during the game. Well as dull as the game was, Ferrell’s antics probably made Shaq appreciate it. So if ever acting may not turn out good for Ferrell, perhaps he’s got another career to move on to.

The scene however is uncertain if it’s a part of a movie shoot as he’s wearing that Ron Burgundy-styled mustache, which has started its production.

Lifehacker: Make Your Own Gadget-Cleaning Solution

| Category: iPodder, iPodder Blog, Tips & Tricks | 1 Comment

I know a lot of you own at least one tech gadget, so have you ever considered using one of those expensive cleaning solutions because 1. they claim it’s the best out there in the market, and 2. they work? Well I fell victim to that once, before I discovered that cleaning your gadgets doesn't have to be expensive.

Do you know that you can make your own inexpensive gadget cleaning solution? And these ingredients could very well be found right in your own household.

CNET’s Sharon Vaknin teaches us on Lifehacker how to do this. By mixing rubbing alcohol and distilled water in a small spray bottle container, you now have your monitor/keyboard/smartphone cleaner. Compared to vinegar, this is way better as it dries fast, and doesn’t smell. But according to their note, Apple doesn’t recommend using alcohol on iPads, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Mark Balelo, star of TV hit Storage Wars, was found dead in his car after he committed suicide.

The 40-year-old Portuguese-born reality star ingested a lethal dose of carbon monoxide after staying in his car and leaving the motor running. The report obtained by TMZ stated that one of his employees found his body in Simi Valley, California Monday morning.

The actor has been arrested for a drug-related offense last Saturday and the next day he reportedly was visited by his fiancé, responding to his request to come see him. Police are investigating his death.

According to his A&E bio, he lived with his family in Brazil when he was 3 to 14 years old and went to work on one of his family’s tuna boats. He eventually moved to San Diego, Calif., then Newport Beach, finally moving up to L.A., where he earned a lot of money from his expensive European cars he sold – until the economic crash five years ago.

Then the actor said he started "selling things on eBay from home. It started as a hobby and quickly turned into an empire. I grew tremendously fast with over $1,000,000 in sales in the first six months of opening the new business. Balelo, Inc. now employs over 50 people with several locations."

Hacked Local TVs Emergency Alert System Warns Of Zombie Breakout

| Category: Entertainment, iPodder, iPodder Blog, News | No Comments

The emergency alert system of a local TV network in Great Falls, Montana, was hacked on Monday and was made to send out a message warning viewers of a zombie uprising. The alert, which occurred during the The Steve Wilkos Show, claimed that the bodies were “attacking the living” and that the public is advised not to “approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous.”

The station immediately notified its viewers both on the air and online that the report was not true, “This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency,” explained the station. “Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.”

Local newspapers reported that the hoax alert resulted to four calls to the police for verification. There’s still no word or information on any potential suspect. However, some people are already considering the possibility or angle that the incident was actually nothing more than just some kind of viral marketing for the AMC series The Walking Dead, according to Gawker.

Throwing Shade Eps. #65

| Category: iPodder, iPodder Blog, Podcast | 1 Comment

Throwing Shade is a weekly comedy podcast where self-proclaimed feminazi Erin Gibson and homosensual Bryan Safi talk about the latest news and important issues that are currently making buzz all across the internet and media outlets. It’s a talk show with a wonderful mix of politics and pop culture.

If you like getting your current events with a dash of sociopathy and a soupcon of wit then this podcast is for you. And even though their theme may lean a bit more on the liberal side, I still would like to think that their show can appeal to everyone.

In today’s featured episode, Erin and Bryan take on the recent Super Bowl, Beyonce’s halftime, the much (or rather overly) hyped TV ads like Playtex’s new Fresh + Sexy and Psy’s Pistachio ad, Richard III, and Glenn Beck.

The Super Bowl ads remind Erin of some of the materials she made for various products that were rejected which, needless to say, led her to go off on a rant until Bryan shifted the discussion to movies, but info synopsis for you. Don’t you think it’s time for you to start listening to the episode instead? Enjoy!
